The Wish

i saw a star tonight,
shot through the dark skies,
and in its merry the rest stood to watch,
twinkling,
i would have made a wish,
but the day ain't mine,
and if i did you would never be mine either,
and to it i put my shooting on a scale,
put the loan to he that got you,
loan it to him that got the heart,
a scarlet untainted like i hold,
and to him the wish,
of smiles to put,
of warmth to give,
and in the rain,
the umbrella,
times of floods,
the bridge,

and i to my journey i will attend,
my error to amend,
it is efforts to command,
so free i this wish,
let it home with the wind,
unchangeth by the light of day,
and stay thus through the night
